With this statement, The Henry Ford acknowledges the presence and history of Indigenous people who originally stewarded the land upon which the institution was built. It is important, however, that this land acknowledgement be more than just words. It is a commitment that requires action.

On April 11, 2026 — coinciding with the opening of Greenfield Village for the season — The Henry Ford unveiled a new plaque in front of the Village ticket building, making this statement a permanent part of the environment.

At the Society for Community Research and Action Conference, I presented a poster with my program manager, Taylor Maxwell, on how our suicide prevention program was integrating culture and community into our youth mental health screenings across the state of Michigan

During our session, Javon Reese, Taylor Maxwell, and I spoke about way to prevent fire-arm related suicide and violence in Black and Indigenous communities at the 2025 Community Technical Assistance Conference (CTAC) in Gaylord, MI.

This award recognizes a staff member of an Indian Health Service funded Urban Indian Organization (UIO) who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and service in advancing the organization's mission and goals.
Nominees should exhibit outstanding professionalism, innovation, and a commitment to improving the lives of urban Native populations through their work within the organization.

During the 2025 Mental Health on College Campuses Conference, I had the honor of being awarded the George Orley Student Mental Health Advocate. Individuals are nominated by their peers and colleagues for their passion and outstanding commitment to improving mental health on campus and throughout their communities.
